Trust & Safety at LYCEON
Trust & Safety at LYCEON
Empowering students to learn with integrity in an AI-driven world.
At LYCEON, we believe technology should strengthen learning, not replace it. That is why we have built the platform with a safety-first, integrity-driven foundation, designed to support students while protecting families and educators.
This page is a high-level overview. Full details are always in the policies linked at the end.
1. Academic Integrity First
We don't do the work for students. We help students understand the work.
Concept-first learning. LYCEON's AI is designed to guide thinking through hints, explanations, and feedback. It does not exist to hand over answers or complete assignments.
Honor Code commitment. Every student agrees to our Honor Code, which requires using LYCEON as a supplemental learning tool and never as a way to bypass school rules, assignments, or exams.
Our goal is to build better learners, not shortcuts.
2. Privacy and Data Security
Your data supports learning. It is never treated as a product.
No data selling. LYCEON does not sell personal information to third parties.
No targeted advertising. Student data is never used to build advertising profiles or marketing audiences, and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Named providers. We name every service provider that processes your data, and what each one receives, in the Privacy Policy. Where a third-party AI service is used, it is contractually prohibited from using personal data to train public or general-purpose models.
No card details. Payments are processed by Stripe. Card numbers never pass through LYCEON's systems.
Privacy is a core part of trust, not an afterthought.
3. Responsible AI Use
Transparent, supervised, and safety-aware by design.
Human-in-the-loop. Students are encouraged to think critically and to report AI responses that seem inaccurate, misleading, or inappropriate.
Layered safety. We use multiple safety mechanisms to reduce the risk of harmful, explicit, or biased AI output, combining automated review with human oversight.
No AI tutor under 13. LISA is not available to any user under 13, and no data from an under-13 account is sent to any third-party AI provider.
AI is a tool for learning, not an authority.
4. Age, Guardians, and Student Autonomy
LYCEON is a student-first platform.
Ages 13 and over. A student aged 13 or older may create an account and use every feature of LYCEON independently. Connecting a parent or guardian is optional, and the student controls it — they generate the link code, choose whether to share it, and can disconnect at any time.
Under 13. A student under 13 cannot use LYCEON until a parent or guardian connects their account. Until then the account is inactive and we hold nothing beyond the guardian email address used to send the invitation. Once connected, the student has access to everything except LISA.
Paying requires an adult. Anyone completing a subscription purchase must be at least 18, whether that is the student, a parent or guardian, or a third party. The subscription attaches to the student's account.
What guardians see. A connected guardian sees progress, mastery, score projections, and the study calendar. They do not see the student's conversations with LISA. A student who believes a parent is reading every question will stop asking the ones they most need to ask, so we keep that space private — while still applying safety review to it, as described below.
Guardian rights. Parents and guardians may review, correct, or request deletion of a connected student's data, subject to applicable law.
5. When Safety Comes First
Tutor conversations are private from guardians, but they are not unmonitored.
LYCEON applies automated safety systems and human review to identify conversations that raise a safety concern. Where a review indicates a student may be at risk, we may contact a connected guardian or, where necessary and permitted by law, appropriate authorities.
Privacy from a parent is not the same as being alone with a problem. We built it that way on purpose.
6. A Respectful Learning Community
Focused, professional, and safe.
Zero tolerance for bullying. Harassment, impersonation, and inappropriate behavior are strictly prohibited under our Community Guidelines.
Proactive monitoring. We use a combination of automated systems and human review to identify and address violations of our safety standards.
Protect your link code. A student's link code grants guardian access to their account. We tell students to treat it like a password — never public, never shared with a classmate. Codes expire after 24 hours and stop working once used.
LYCEON is a learning environment, not a social free-for-all.
