LYCEON Parent / Guardian Terms
LYCEON Parent / Guardian Terms
These Parent / Guardian Terms ("Parent Terms") apply when a parent or legal guardian ("you") consents to a minor's use of the LYCEON platform, connects an account to a student's account, or pays for a student's subscription.
By connecting your account to a student's, you agree to these Parent Terms, the Student Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy, and the Honor Code. If you do not agree, do not connect your account.
1. Your Role
By connecting to a student's account, you represent and agree that:
- You are the parent or legal guardian of that student
- You have the legal authority to consent on their behalf
- You are responsible for their use of the platform
LYCEON is not a substitute for parental supervision, classroom instruction, or professional tutoring.
1.1 Reviewing Your Student's Activity
We encourage you to review your student's activity periodically. Section 4 describes exactly what you can see — and what you cannot. Your review is necessarily limited to the data LYCEON makes available to you.
2. Educational Purpose
LYCEON is an educational support tool intended to supplement learning.
You acknowledge that LYCEON does not provide certified instruction and does not guarantee academic outcomes, test scores, or admissions results. Learning outcomes depend on many factors outside LYCEON's control.
You remain responsible for academic decisions, study strategies, and exam registration.
3. Age Requirements and Under-13 Accounts
3.1 Ages 13 to 18
LYCEON is a student-first platform. A student aged 13 or older may create an account and use every feature of LYCEON independently. They agree to the Student Terms of Use directly, and your consent is not a precondition for their use.
These Parent Terms apply to you from the moment you connect your account to theirs or pay for their subscription — not before.
Your student controls the connection. They generate the link code and choose whether to share it with you, and either of you can end the connection at any time. You cannot connect to a student's account without their participation. We have built it this way deliberately: a student decides who sees their work.
Anyone who pays for a subscription must be at least 18. See Section 9.
3.2 Under 13 — Your Connection Is Required
A student under 13 cannot use LYCEON until you have connected your account to theirs.
Before you connect:
- Their account is not active
- They cannot use any platform feature
- LYCEON collects nothing from them beyond the guardian email address they provide at sign-up, which is used solely to invite you
When you connect your account and agree to these Parent Terms:
- Their account activates
- They will not have access to LISA, our AI tutor. This applies to every LYCEON user under 13, without exception. No data from an under-13 account is sent to any third-party AI provider
- All other features become available to them
If you disconnect your account, their access ends.
3.3 What This Consent Is
Connecting your account is how you consent to your student's use of LYCEON, and it is how we record that consent. We describe this plainly rather than claiming it satisfies any particular legal standard for verifiable parental consent. If you have questions about how we handle your student's data, the Privacy Policy describes it in full and support@lyceon.ai will answer directly.
4. What You Can and Cannot See
4.1 What a Connected Guardian Can See
- Progress and practice activity
- Mastery breakdown by subject and skill
- Score projections and exam results
- Study calendar
4.2 What a Connected Guardian Cannot See
You cannot see your student's conversations with LISA. Tutor conversations are private to the student.
This is deliberate. A student who believes a parent is reading every question they ask will stop asking the questions they most need to ask. We think a student learns more when that space is private, and we have built the platform that way.
This does not mean those conversations are unmonitored. LYCEON applies automated safety systems and human review to tutor conversations, and we will contact you directly where a safety concern requires it, as described in the Trust & Safety page and the Privacy Policy.
5. How Connecting Works
Your student generates a link code in their account settings and shares it with you. You enter that code in your guardian account and the connection is active immediately.
Link codes expire after 24 hours and stop working once used. Your student can generate a new one at any time.
Either you or your student can end the connection at any time, from account settings. When a connection ends, you immediately lose access to their data. If your student is under 13, ending the connection also ends their access to LYCEON.
You may connect to more than one student. Each student generates their own code and each connection is independent.
6. LISA, Accuracy, and Safety
LYCEON uses artificial intelligence to generate explanations, hints, feedback, and learning guidance. LISA is not available to users under 13.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, offensive, or inappropriate
- AI systems may "hallucinate" — confidently presenting false or misleading information
- AI-generated content is probabilistic and not guaranteed to be correct
- AI-generated content is not professional, academic, medical, or legal advice
You acknowledge that you have discussed these limitations with your student and encouraged them to think critically about AI-generated content.
LYCEON encourages reporting of inappropriate or harmful AI behavior so it can be reviewed and improved.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LYCEON is not liable for emotional distress, academic penalties or disciplinary actions, or stress, anxiety, or loss of opportunity resulting from reliance on AI-generated content.
7. Academic Integrity
LYCEON is designed to explain concepts and support learning, not to complete academic work on behalf of students.
Schools, instructors, and testing authorities may restrict or prohibit AI-assisted work, and misuse of AI tools may result in academic consequences.
LYCEON is not responsible for consequences arising from a student's misuse of the platform, including plagiarism determinations, disciplinary action, or academic sanctions.
8. Account Responsibility
You acknowledge that you are responsible for activity conducted by your student on LYCEON, that account credentials should be kept secure, and that only one account per student is permitted unless explicitly authorized.
LYCEON reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate platform rules, the Student Terms, or the Honor Code.
9. Payments and Subscriptions
9.1 What You Are Buying
If you purchase a subscription, you are buying premium access for a specific student account that you select at checkout.
The subscription attaches to the student, not to you. Paying does not give your own account premium access. You see your student's progress data because they are subscribed and connected to you.
You may pay for more than one student. Each subscription is separate and independent.
9.2 Who May Pay
The person completing checkout must be at least 18 and authorized to use the payment method provided. Subscriptions are currently available to payers with a billing address in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, or Singapore.
9.3 Billing, Renewal, Cancellation, and Refunds
These are governed in full by:
- LYCEON Billing Terms — what you agree to at checkout
- LYCEON Subscription and Auto-Renewal Notice — renewal, reminders, price changes, and your rights by region
- LYCEON Refund Policy — refund windows, how to request a refund, and what happens afterward
Those documents govern. This Section does not restate them and does not limit any right they give you.
In summary, and without limiting those documents: subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel online at any time from your account settings; first subscriptions carry a 7-day satisfaction guarantee; renewal charges carry a 3-day grace window where the service has not been used; and additional statutory rights may apply depending on where you live.
9.4 If You Disconnect or a Refund Is Issued
Disconnecting from a student does not by itself cancel a subscription you are paying for. Cancel separately from your account settings if you no longer wish to be charged.
When a refund is issued, the student's paid access ends and their account reverts to the free tier.
10. Data and Privacy
LYCEON collects student data to personalize learning, track progress, and improve platform quality and safety. Student data may include learning activity, performance metrics, and usage patterns.
All data handling is governed by the LYCEON Privacy Policy.
Connecting your account means your student's progress and mastery data is shared with you. As a parent or guardian you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your student's data, subject to legal requirements.
11. Content Ownership
Your student retains ownership of content they submit to LYCEON.
By consenting to their use of the platform, you grant LYCEON a license to store and display submitted content, operate and improve the platform, and analyze content in aggregated or anonymized form.
LYCEON retains ownership of all platform software, content, and AI systems.
12. Prohibited Conduct
You agree that your student may not harass, bully, or abuse other users; share hateful, explicit, or harmful content; attempt to bypass or manipulate AI safety systems; or reverse engineer, scrape, or exploit the platform.
LYCEON may monitor usage patterns to enforce safety and integrity. Violations may result in suspension or permanent termination.
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless LYCEON and its affiliates from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your student's violation of these Parent Terms, the Student Terms, or the Honor Code, or content or actions taken by your student on the platform.
14. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LYCEON SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF ACADEMIC OPPORTUNITY, EXAM FEES, EXPECTED SCORE IMPROVEMENTS, OR FUTURE EARNINGS.
LYCEON'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE PLATFORM SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF:
- THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO LYCEON IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CLAIM, OR
- FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS ($50)
15. Arbitration and Class Action Waiver
You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to LYCEON shall be resolved through binding arbitration, rather than in court, except where prohibited by law.
You waive any right to bring or participate in a class action, collective action, or representative proceeding.
This provision survives termination.
16. Changes to These Terms
LYCEON may update these Parent Terms from time to time. Each version carries a version number and effective date.
Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. Where a change materially affects a paid subscription, we provide advance notice as described in the Subscription and Auto-Renewal Notice.
